The Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, in cooperation with the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, organized a seminar entitled “Major Power Shifts and Their Impact on the International Order” at the Center’s headquarters.

The seminar was opened by Dr. Ayman Abdel Wahab, Director of the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, who emphasized the importance of studying the rapid transformations taking place within the international system and the challenges and opportunities they create, which require further research, analysis, and dialogue among academic and research institutions.

Ambassador Laila Bahaa El-Din, Executive Director of the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, stressed the importance of discussing the ongoing shifts in the balance of international power and their implications for the future of the international order. She noted that current global developments, particularly U.S. policies and the rise of new international powers, raise many questions regarding the shape of the global system in the coming period, making further research and dialogue among experts and specialists essential.

The first session of the seminar addressed “The Domestic Practices of the Trump Administration and Their Impact on the Future of American Dominance in the International System.” The session was chaired by Dr. Gamal Abdel Gawad and featured Dr. Karim El-Qadi and Dr. Dina Shehata. Participants discussed the implications of domestic political transformations in the United States on its international standing and on the future of the global order.

The second session examined “China’s Vision of the International Order and When China May Become a Leading Global Power.” Chaired by Dr. Mohamed Fayez Farahat, with the participation of Dr. Ahmed Kandil and Dr. Hanaa Obeid, the session explored the future of the global order with China emerging as a new major power.

The third session focused on “The Russia–Ukraine War and Its Repercussions for European Security and Russia’s Future Position in the International Order.” The session was chaired by Ambassador Alaa El-Hadidy and included Dr. Amr El-Shobaky and Dr. Yasmin Ahmed El-Dawy. Participants discussed the consequences of the war and its impact on the global system.

The seminar witnessed rich discussions among researchers, experts, and attendees on the ongoing transformations in the international balance of power, the future of relations among major powers, and possible scenarios for the evolution of the international order in the coming years.

The seminar reflects the commitment of the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge to providing a platform for intellectual dialogue and the exchange of views on international and regional issues of strategic importance.
